This is a original 19th century school atlas by the female educator Sarah S. Cornell. As stated in the title, thework was made for High School educators and their students as a companion atlas to Cornell’s geographical text book. This atlas was published by D. Appleton & Co. out of New York City in 1859.

The atlas is solely comprised of twenty-six maps, lacking text pages that give near equal attention to every part of the inhabitable world. The United States map shows nearly half of the country as territories that include Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Indian, Washington, Oregon, Utah, and New Mexico. Though much of this region was still heavily occupied by Native Americans in their ancestral land, not a single tribe is noted except for within the map of Texas and California.

An interesting annotation on the first blank page suggests that this atlas once belonged to a Emma Parks, and is dated Sept. 11th, 1860.

Condition: This Atlas is in B condition with staining to the covers and some spotting on a few of the maps. The corners are bumped, most notably the top right and the spine is complete and secure with some wear at the edged.
